Prince Arthur Henry Newland is remembered with honour upon the Thiepval War Memorial in France. He served

with the 1st/19th Bn London Regiment and was killed in action at the Battle of the Somme, 2nd October 1916, age 24.

The Honourable Corry Heard Newland, son of Prince George Newland and Lady Emma Davey and cousin of Prince Arthur Henry Newland,
is remembered with honour upon the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial in France. He served with the 25th Bn Australian Infantry and died
age 28, of battle wounds while being transported home to Australia. He was buried with horours at sea off the Cape of Good Hope.

His Majesty King George V was reputedly in attendance at the funeral of HRH Sovereign Lord Newland King William VI.

A message from His Royal Highness Lord Newland

The well renowned phrase; 'History is written by the victors' certainly holds resonance in our case. For the last 659 years the Royal House of Newland has remained in a state of quarantine to live in obscurity and have hence therefore slipped through the historical record. Though the House of Newland may be considered a lost Royal Family, it must be noted that we were not and are not exiled. We therefore remain as legitimate Sovereign Royalty of Scotland. However, we make no claim to the throne of Scotland or indeed any other territory, but claim our own independent sovereignty that was authorized by Pope Innocent VI in 1362 and legitimized by deed of Letters Patent in 1367 by King Edward III of England. We therefore live in Great Britain as a sovereign entity free of UK Jurisdiction (de Jure). We are what is deemed as Free Royalty completely separate to the United Kingdom's aristocratical system, i.e. The House of Lords, the establishment, its officers, and the reigning House of Windsor, and as such just like all other foreign royalty the House of Newland is not included in the British Peerage or funded by the UK Tax payer. With no aid or Sovereign Grant we exist as an impoverished state relying on our own ingenuity and the grace of God to survive. We live in the real world folks! We know all too well what it is like to struggle everyday to keep the lamps burning and the food on the table. However, Sovereignty is not created by monetary wealth nor destroyed by the lack of it, likewise Sovereignty is neither created by recognition nor destroyed by non recognition, and therefore as Sovereign I retain the personal dynastic wealth of lineage, the jus majestatis, i.e. the right of respect and honors due to my rank; and the jus honorum, i.e. the right to grant noble titles and ranks of knightly orders. My inherent birthright as Sovereign has been legally and historically affirmed by the unlocking of my Heraldic Instrument of Creation Letters Patent, which was verified and confirmed bona fide legal and genuine by Her Majesty's Lancaster Herald in person at the College of Arms in 1986. And more recently on 14th January 2025 a sworn Affidavit declaring the facts of my birthright, and the history of the Royal House of Newland, etc. was presented to His Majesty King Charles III, (the elite establishment of the UK and its heraldic authorities) which was unchallenged or rebutted, and therefore my legally binding affidavit now stands as truth enforceable by law. We know the truth is not dependent on perception. We don't argue with the ignorant, we don't defend what doesn't need defending, we hold true, we endure, we move forward. We don't need an audience, no applause, and no validation. We do not use conspiracies;, we stand quietly and firmly in our own jurisdiction on the absolute truth, because we are Free Royalty. However, the House of Newland remains the casualty of historic injustice, wrongfully excluded from the pages of the British Peerage. It is therefore our moral obligation to inspire historians to acknowledge the truth and tell the full story. Of course historic errors cannot be corrected overnight but adjustments in the pursuit of historic accuracy should be made. Therefore, we propose that the statement stating John, the Master of Sutherland in 1361, 'Died of the Plague', should have the additional following footnote. 'However, it is now established that he survived; changed his name to Lord William of Newland, and it is from him that the Sovereign Lords of the Royal House of Newland, the Sovereign Lords of Scotland are descended'. Until then we endeavor to persevere with our quest to have the truth told and to set the record straight, which this website aims to do.
