To celebrate the Order of the Unicorn's 5th founding anniversary, Lord Newland in January 2024 invited all honoured members of the Order to submit their own unicorn stories into a writing competition for the chance to have them published in an exciting new unicorn book for the Order. There was a good response from members, having submissions from budding authors from as far away as the USA. It was a huge success! All the stories were fantastic and all were very different, which made them a joy to read. Eventually Lord Newland selected on fourteen stories for inclusion to appear alongside his own written work, and so after many months the book, 'Unicorns, The Legend and The Story' has finally been published!
The book is packed with black and white illustrations, and consists of a well researched introduction with an accurate historical portrayal surrounding the mythology and allure of unicorns. Chief author H.R.H. Lord Robert Newland brings to life twelve gritty unicorn legends based on traditional European myths and tales. Also included are the fourteen enchanting winning short stories by members of the Order of the Unicorn, of which the youngest is only seven-years-old! Princess Serenitie-Love age 13, from Fairhaven, Massachusetts, USA, has a strong passion and talent for dance, competing in dance competitions all across the USA. Her favorite styles are contemporary and classical jazz; she also loves animals and unicorns! Her story 'Enchanted Realms', is a surreal and tantalizing tale about a girl named Esmeralda who one day discovers a magic portal that transports her to a dream-like enchanted realm full of colorful unicorns and playful fairies, where rainbow lollipop trees grow and the air is as sweet as cotton candy.
Esmeralda gasped in astonishment and as she looked on with wonder, the grand floating gateway magically opened revealing a pure white luminous pathway.

Princess Trinitie-Heaven age 12, from Fairhaven, Massachusetts, USA, like her sister Serenitie-Love, is a talented dancer who likes competing in dance competitions. Her favorite styles are Tap and Hip Hop. She also collects American Girls Dolls and loves animals and unicorns! Her story 'The Magical Friendship' is a delightful tale about a boy named Robert who along with his friends go on an exciting expedition in search of unicorns, which in turn leads on to a magical unicorn friendship and a meeting with the king of the unicorns.
Soon they entered the forest, slowly creeping along the trails so as not to scare away any unicorns they might encounter. After following the overgrown trails for approximately an hour, the group of friends and true believers thought they heard a strange noise.

Brianna also enjoys partaking in beauty pageants, modeling and getting out and about in Wales, all of which has inspired her to write her enchanting story, 'The Magical Tales from Caernarfon Castle', which is about a young princess called Gwen who longs to see a unicorn, then one frosty night her wildest dream actually comes true!
“Oh my goodness!” She exclaimed. Gwen stood at her window absolutely stunned by the sight of a very special visitor.

Princess Kendra from Hammond, Indiana, USA is our youngest author at just 7 years of age. She enjoys school, playing with her friends and competing in beauty pageants. Kendra absolutely loves unicorns and has been fascinated by them all her life often wondering what it would be like to be a unicorn. Kendra brings her own imagination to life in her charming story, 'Whiskers the Unicorn', which tells of a little kitty cat who comes up with a fun and novel way to become a unicorn!
What if he could become a unicorn just like the ones he had heard about in fairytales? With a mischievous glint in his eye Whiskers decided to give it a try.

Tayla-Jai also enjoys ice-skating and modeling. She is always up for a challenge and an adventure, just as in her fantastic story 'The Magical Unicorn Adventure', in which Tayla-Jai tells of her own exciting, action packed, magical adventure to rescue all the unicorns that are being held captive by the evil Viking King Rogbrok, and just as in all good fairytales she finds truelove's first kiss!
Astonished, I stood back and thought I was dreaming, but no, to my surprise I was really seeing this shimmering white glow and the unicorn shaking and swishing its mane, and as I watched I heard a faint soft voice calling out to me.

She is a Life Guard at her local swimming pool and a dedicated member of her school's basketball team. She also enjoys partaking in beauty pageants in which she has become quite a celebrity in the pageant community, winning many titles and crowns. But her main passion is running her own non-profit organization, 'Mehayles Food Pantry', donating food and clothes to the needy. Her enchanting story 'Princess Agitha and the Unicorn', is about a young princess named Agitha Blue who becomes lost in an enchanted forest, and in her darkest moment of despair, she finds hope in the guise of a majestic unicorn.
The unicorn spoke in a voice like the softest breeze, "Fear not, dear princess. I have been sent to guide you back to the safety of your castle. Hold onto my shimmering mane and we shall return swiftly."

She also enjoys partaking in beauty pageants and creative writing, some of her work has been published in various anthologies. Her recent published story, 'Molly the Unicorn's Journey', is about a kindhearted hungry little unicorn called Molly who visits the nearby town in search of food, making new friends along the way.
Molly was just going to eat the chips when she heard someone crying behind her. Molly looked up and turned around to see a little girl crying.

In fact her main passion is cooking, especially baking cakes; a craft in which she has excelled at, inspiring her to become a baker or a pastry chef as a career. She also likes art, listening to music, and learning to play the flute. Her charming story, 'A Unicorn Ate my Homework', is a fun and thought provoking tale of an encounter with a very mischievous unicorn with a taste for candy and homework.
The unicorn could smell the candy in my school bag and he put his nose inside it and ate all the candy! It was funny! Then I noticed the unicorn had also taken a huge bite out of my homework!

She also enjoys playing music and can be found every Sunday playing the drums at her local Church. Her short story 'My Lucky Charm' is an imaginative and charming essay about a magical unicorn that flies about the town watching over all the children to keep them safe.

Princess Savanna age 16, from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA is a dedicated member of her school's field hockey team and is involved with her community through beauty pageants and the Girl Scouts. Savanna also enjoys sailing and modeling; among her long list of achievements includes winning the pageant title Miss American Junior Teen, and winning Cover Queen 2020 of the Glitter Girls calendar. Her story 'A Wish and a Unicorn' is an enchanting tale about a Unicorn called Arabella and her foal Sapphire, who one day set out to make a little girl's dream come true.
Sapphire had always heard tales of her mother's wish granting experience, and this was the day she'd get to try it herself.

Princess Avalyn age 10, from Bovey, Minnesota, USA, is a competitive gymnast, and dedicated member of her gymnastics team, and enjoys partaking in gymnastics competitions. Avalyn excels in school but her main passion is Ice Skating; her ambition is to become a competitive figure skater for team USA. She loves animals especially her ten chickens, and loves unicorns too. At the end of the day she loves nothing more than putting on her unicorn PJ's and snuggle up in bed and dream of unicorns, a routine that inspired her to write her delightful story 'Misty the Unicorn', which is about a little girl named Ava who loves unicorns.
All of a sudden, standing over her was a beautiful unicorn with a long mane full of different colours. It was staring at her and began licking her nose. Ava giggled with glee. She was so excited to finally see a unicorn.
